As if the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU is not enough, the Joint action committee of non teaching staff in public universities has placed its members on red alert of the possibility of an industrial action following failed agreements with government.

The unions are the senior staff union of universities, SSANU and the Non-academic Staff Unions of Educational and associated institutions, NASU.

In a statement jointly signed by SSANU President, Mohammed Haruna and NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, the non- teaching staff accused government of inconsistencies in IPPIS Payment, Non-payment of Earned allowances, delay in renegotiation of FGN/NASU and SSANU Agreement as well as non-payment of arrears of National Minimum Wage.

Others are, the usurpation of headship of Non-teaching units in clear violation of conditions of service and establishment procedures, the Neglect and poor funding of State universities and non-payment of retirement benefits to outgoing staff as well as non-release of white paper in the constitution of visitation panels to universities.

SSANU and NASU say they have waited for a whole year after Memorandum of Understanding was reached, yet nothing has been done and it can no longer guaranty industrial harmony on campuses and inter- University centres.
