Former Nigerian Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has finally broken his silence on the raging public debate of zoning of the office of the governor in Enugu State, ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the State.

Ekweremadu at a World Press Conference tagged “A Pathway to a New Dawn in Enugu” told Journalists that there is nothing like zoning in the State.

Ekweremadu who reeled out his political, economic, social and developmental agenda for the people of Enugu State says he is going to take the historical traditional capital of the old Eastern region of Nigeria to its known vintage position, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, youth and women development, security, and other strategic sectors.

Ekweremadu, a ranking Senator who currently represents Enugu West Senatorial District in the National Assembly promises the people of Enugu State that if elected the next governor, he will utilize all his experiences, friendships, partnerships, and global contact acquired over the years to transform Enugu to a model State.

The lawmaker also thanked the people of Enugu State for the opportunity to serve as a pioneer Council Chairman of Aninri Council Area which effectively launched him into a successful political career.

Listing several of his services to the people which include serving as the Chief of Staff to the Governor; Secretary to the Enugu State government; a five-term Senator, three term Deputy Senate President; and a Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Ekweremadu urged the people of Enugu to see him as a huge asset and a valuable political product for the good of the State.

The lawmaker who is aspiring to occupy the Enugu State government House in 2023 is advising the people not to allow any body to deceive them as there is nothing like zoning in Enugu State.

A lawyer by profession, Ike Ekweremadu was first elected to the Senate in 2003 making him the longest serving Senator in Enugu State, South East Nigeria.
