The Organized Labour in Niger State has suspended the two-week-long strike embarked upon by the state and local government workers.
The suspension of the strike took effect from midnight, Thursday, the twenty-fourth of March.
An agreement was reached at a meeting between the representatives of the organized labour, led by the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Yakubu Garba, and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, Ibrahim Gana, and the representatives of the Niger State Government, led by the Deputy Governor, Ahmad Ketso.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Yakubu Garba, and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, colleague, Ibrahim Gana, said the stoppage of any form of deductions that are not in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of nineteen ninety-nine as amended is a breach.
Also breached is the immediate removal of the names of dead workers, retirees and ghost workers that have been inserted in the nominal rolls and biometric payment vouchers of the respective local government areas.
