Delta State Government has approved a lease-to-own contract for the Oghara Independent Power Project in Ethiope West Local Government Area in lieu of outright sale as earlier advised by experts.
Delta State Commissioner for Information Charles Aniagwu who made this disclosure while briefing journalists on the outcome of the state Executive Council meeting presided over by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said the decision was to ensure that the state government gets value for its investment in the project.
Also approved by the State Exco are: The Construction of Phase 1 of Odododegho Road 2.5km from Ekiugbo Junction in Ughelli North; Egbo Street and Egbule Street Idumesa in Ika North-East repudiation of the Ute-Okpu and Ute-Enugu Road to be rewarded to another competent company.
Aniagwu who announced the approved construction of drainage channel to deflood Koka junction to Ibusa Road on dual carriage and appointment of HRM Sylvester Enechaziam as the Ogbelani of Illah Kingdom in Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state reveals that the present Exco may be the last session for some members that indicated interest to contest in the 2023 general elections.
He stated that at the moment, Delta is adjudged to be one of the peaceful states and it would be expedient to maintain such a feat in the course of the electioneering campaign as all the contestants are expected to maintain high level of decorum during the Primaries and the main contest.
