A socio-political group, Kwara For Kwara has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in Kwara State.
The Spokesperson for the group, Abdulrasheed Akogun made the call in Ilorin the Kwara State capital during a press conference where the group expressed disappointment over the poor state of security in the State.
The group While expressing concerns over the poor state of security in Kwara state, said the efforts by the State Government is yet to yield meaningful results in tackling insecurity in Kwara State, in the face of incessant kidnappings.
Akogun noted that kidnappings in the state has reached a dangerous level, condemning recent kidnapping of some students.

The group noted that about 700 million naira has so far been paid as ransom for release of kidnapped victims in Kwara State between 2019 till date with some of the victims loosing their lives in the process.
The police command in the state has however debunked claims by the group, noting that the state government in partnership with the police is working hard in ensuring the protection of lives and property in Kwara State, the police command also refutes claims that a huge sum of Seven hundred million naira has so far been expended on ransom payment.
