A High Court sitting in Benin City, on Friday, affirmed Anselm Ojezua as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State.

Ruling on the case with Suit No. B/177OS/19, Justice Oviawe granted an order of interim injunction directing that the status quo as at November 10, 2019, with regards to the chairmanship of the APC Edo State chapter, be maintained pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice praying for an order of interlocutory injunction.

The court thereafter adjourned the case to Thursday, December 5, 2019, for hearing and determination of the suit.

The claimants and applicants in the case are Anselm Ojezua; Deputy Chairman, APC, Edo State, Kenneth Asekhomhe; State Organising Secretary, Aisosa Amadasun, for themselves and on behalf of the State Executive Committee of APC, Edo State, save for those who expressly dissent or dissociate themselves.

The defendants in the suit are David Imuse, Lawrence Okah, for himself on behalf of the members of the purported State Working Committee of APC, Edo State chapter who suspended and removed the first plaintiff as Chairman of Edo State chapter of the party and the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, for himself and on behalf of the National Working Committee of the APC.

The case came up before Justice Oviawe in the absence of the parties.

Anselm Ojezua was last week removed from office after 11 members of the State Working Committee allegedly signed a removal notice on him as State Chairman of the party.

Three out of the 11 members have since denounced their signatures on the document.
