His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto has declared Monday 2nd May as the first day of Shawwal.
This is because no positive sighting claims was received from members of the National moon sighting committee and other Emirates within Nigeria.

The announcement was done in line with Sharia law regarding fasting that when ever the new lunar moon is not sighted, the fasting would continue to complete the month to thirty days and the new month would automatically starts the next day when Muslims would celebrate Ed el -fitr or sallah day.
