The Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC,has set up a seven man ad-hoc committee to prune its governorship aspirants to six, as a build up to achieve a consensus candidate ahead of the party’s primary.

The Committee headed by former Nigerian Senate Leader,Victor Ndoma-Egba has the mandate to reduce the current number of governorship aspirants to two per senatorial district in line with the party’s non-zoning formula.

Governor Ayade had insisted that the party’s Governorship Candidate will come from the Southern Senatorial District of the State.

A statement signed by the APC publicity secretary in Cross River State, Erasmus Ekpang on Tuesday explained that the effort was geared towards “achieving an all inclusive, transparent, fair and democratic process that will lead to the emergence of an acceptable Governorship Candidate of the Party”.

The Committee which will be sworn in on Wednesday is expected to submit its report on Friday.

Other Members of the adhoc committee which has Senator Florence Ita-Giwa as Secretary include former Minister of Tourism, Edem Duke, Elder Bolaji Anani, Odey Ochicha, Addy Achi and Ebuta Ayuk.

All aspirants according to the release are expected to present themselves with their relevant credentials and evidence of up to date financial membership of the party

At the time of filing this report ,none of the eleven Governorship aspirants have obtained either the nomination or expression of interest form – a development that suggests they are awaiting clarification from the leadership of the party on the their next step.
