The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination to train People Living With Disabilities in different skills and traits, aimed at making them self-reliant.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Faruk, said this during the opening ceremony of a three-day capacity building workshop on Income-generating Activities For Persons With Disability, (PWD), from the Northwest Geopolitical Zone, held in Kano.
Persons Living With Disabilities are often neglected in society, as they struggle to survive.
It is in a quest to put a stop to this, that the Ministry Of Humanitarian And Disaster Management, rolled out this capacity building training.

The minister, represented by the Director of Special Duties in the Ministry, Nkechi Onwukwe, said the entrepreneurial skills would offer new opportunities for the people living with disabilities, geared toward addressing the high level of poverty, among them.
She said after the training, each participant will be given a grant of one hundred thousand Naira, which will be closely monitored.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the Federal Government for coming to their rescue.
The training will focus on fish farming, phone repairs and cosmetics production.
