Shun disunity along ethnic lines…Ortom

As political activities heightens, generating divided interests, the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has highlighted the need for Nigerians to shun disunity along ethnic lines.

Governor Ortom Stated this while receiving Igede speaking political leaders from Benue south senatorial district and appreciated the support given government and security operatives to end the protracted Bonta-Ukpute crisis.

As the primary election for political parties ahead of the 2023 general election draws closer and as expected political permutations have equally heightened with various minority tribes clamouring for positions they have not had the privilege of attaining.

While the Benue south senatorial district dominated by the idoma speaking people are agitating for the number one seat as some recently rejected second position and warning that any one who accepts to deputize will be banished, the Igede minority in the region say they will accept any position given.

The political leaders of Igede extraction equally want the Senate seat which has been the exclusive of the dominant Idoma tribe.

The leaders appreciated the State Government’s intervention in the Bonta Ukpute crisis and want the efforts sustained.

Responding Governor Samuel Ortom encouraged the Igede stakeholders as well as people in the entire State to remain United as disunity along ehnic lines will not be in the best interest of the State.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all parts are given equal opportunity irrespective of ethnic background.
