The Cross River Police Command has confirmed the killing of a police inspector by some unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers around the Federal Housing Estate in Calabar, the state capital.
Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo while confirming the incident to ait.live via telephone, explained that the Command has launched a manhunt to fish out the killers.

Ugbo said the Commissioner of Police Aminu Alhassan has activated his intelligence team to fish out the killers within 48 hours.
The slain Inspector identified as Edim Ngoro was gunned down Thursday night by some unidentified men who came to kidnap a small shop owner around the Federal Housing Estate in Calabar.
Multiple sources told our correspondent that Inspector Ngoro was a passerby with police uniform on him, when the kidnappers opened fire at him. He was reportedly being taken to the General Hospital Calabar, but died before getting there to receive medical attention.
