At least 25 persons have been reportedly killed and several houses burnt, as gunmen suspected to be terrorists, attacked five Kaduna communities in the Kujuru Local Government Area of the state.

The villages are Maikori, Dogon Noma, and Ungwan Doma, among others.

According to the spokesman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU, Luka Biniyat, the incident happened between 1 and 2 pm on Sunday.

He said that in the Maikori village, 16 persons were killed and the entire village was completely burnt.

Binyan explained that a security helicopter mounted with guns shelled villagers who were battling to repel the terrorists, in a manner to suggest the attack was aided.

A resident of the Dogon Noma community, Danlami Stingo, said that an Evangelical Church Winning for All, ECWA, was burned by the attackers, and about 10 people were killed in the Dogon Noma village alone.

Biniyat also confirmed that a bomb was dropped on a compound, and the level of damage in the whole village is yet to be ascertained, as many are still missing.

At the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command, Mohammed Jalinge said that a statement will be released on the incident, in due course.
