Two years after the rape and brutal murder of 100 level student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Omozuwa by unknown persons in a church in Benin City, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Wife, Betsy have lamented the slow pace of investigation into the killing.

Speaking at the end of a project workshop for Edo State Gender-based Violence Management Committee which held in Government House, Benin City, they appealed to the Police to expedite action and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.

Uwaila Omozuwa was allegedly raped and killed in a church in Benin City, Edo State in May, 2020.
The news of the heinous crime reverberated through the country as Nigerians condemned the gruesome murder of the 22-year old microbiology student.

Two years after, wife of the State Governor, Betsy Obaseki is calling on the relevant authorities to bring the killers to book.

Governor Obaseki is also not happy with what he describes as the slow pace of investigation.
He says 25 months after, the Police had nothing tangible to show for all the uproar caused by her tragic death.

The death of Uwaila Omozuwa served as a catalyst for enhanced fight against all forms of gender based violence in Nigeria.
