KADUNA 1

The police have called on local communities to put in place measures that will assist security agencies to identify those who supply information to bandits.

Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Yekini Ayoku, stated this following Sunday’s attack by terrorists on Churches in Kajuru.

At least 3 persons were killed with scores of others abducted when terrorists attacked churches in Kajuru in Kaduna State.

The attack, the latest of similar attacks in Kajuru has further heightened insecurity in Kaduna State.

A resident of the area, Bashir Usman, said the terrorists attacked the churches after unleashing terror on some nearby communities.

Government and security officials who visited the affected
areas have described the attack as a threat to security even as they called for increased vigilance to identify those who may have been supplying the bandits with information and weapons.

At least five communities in Kajuru have been sacked with the situation fast becoming a humanitarian crisis as farmers can no longer go to their farms.

No fewer than 35 persons were killed in the month of June alone, while scores of farmers and worshippers are now hostages with their abductors now demanding the sum of 100 million naira from the communities for the release of the hostages.

The communities called for immediate reinforcement as local vigilantes seemed to have been overwhelmed by the terrorists.
