Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma says the security situation in his state has not degenerated to the level of asking residents to carry arms.

Governor Uzodinma said this while addressing state house correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa and against the backdrop of Zamfara State Government’s call on residents in the state to arm themselves against violent criminals.

Uzodinma said he could not explain why the Zamfara State government was contemplating such a move, adding that the situation is different in Imo where he said the security agencies are in control of the situation..

Governor Uzodinma also told newsmen President Buhari has approved the hosting of Army Day in Imo, saying this will further improve the security in the state.

He thanked the President for his approval for the event which is expected to take place during President Buhari’s visit to commission projects.
