Terrorists have abducted the Medical Director of the General Hospital Dansadau in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria, Dr. Mansur Muhammad.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA Zamfara State branch, the incident occurred on Saturday at Mashayar-Zaki along Dansadau- Magami Road.
The statement quoted the NMA chairman, “I received with deep shock the report of the kidnap of Medical Director General Hospital Dansadau, Dr. Mansur Muhammad.”
He urged members of the Association to include the victim and other abductees in their prayers while the leadership will work with relevant authorities to ensure his timely release in good health.
Dansadau Emirate in Maru local Government Area of Zamfara State is about 100 kilometres from Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
It is where banditry activities are said to have originated with terrorists enclaves surrounding the troubled area because of the large Kuyabana forest which serve as hideouts for them.
Meanwhile, in a separate inciden, terrorists have reportedly abducted the wife of the Chairman of Zamfara State chapter of the National Union Of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Sanusi Mohammed.
The nine-month pregnant woman was abducted from their residence at the Damba area of Gusau, the state capital in the early hours of Tuesday.
Eyewitness accounts say terrorists invaded the residence of Sanusi Mohammed at about 1am on Tuesday with the intention to abduct the NULGE chairman but unfortunately for them, he hid where terrorists could not see him. They however whisked away with his nine-month pregnant wife, Ramatu Yunusa. Family members of the victim say she is due for delivery at anytime.
The terrorists were said to have scaled through the fence into the residence and broke the main door of the house to access the sitting room where they ransacked to abduct Sanusi Mohammed but were unable to locate where he was.
Damba area of Gusau in the state capital has witnessed several attacks, killings and abduction of many of innocent residents of the troubled area.
The police have confirmed incident with the State Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu saying the Command has deployed its search and rescued team to comb the bush and ensure the victim is safely rescued.
