Unknown persons have made attempts to set the Bauchi Assembly Complex ablaze, prompting security personnel to barricade the entrance.

AIT gathered that some unknown person about 50 of them attempted to force their way into the assembly complex entrance gate at about 11 pm on Sunday.

It took the intervention of the armed security personnel to foil the attempted forced entry into the assembly complex.

The Special Adviser to the Bauchi Governor on Liaison, Sani ohammed Burra confirmed the development.

He said, “when I received the information, I immediately called the Commissioner of Police on behalf of the Bauchi State Government. He immediately mobilized personnel to maintain law and order.

He said the relationship between the executive and legislatures is cordial.

The crisis is coming at a time when the Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, who is the Deputy Amir Hajj, is leading Bauchi Muslim pilgrims to Mecca, for this year’s Hajj exercise.

One of the 22 Assembly members who didn’t want his name mentioned said, already the new Speaker has been selected.

Meanwhile, the 22 aggrieved members of the assembly have vowed that there is no going back on their move.

All efforts to get Police reaction and confirmation failed as the Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, refused to respond to calls on his phone.
