The Medium Custodial Centre in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja is said to be under attack
Residents of the area have told AIT.live that loud bangs and heavy shelling have been ongoing for the past one hour.
One of the messages sent read, “Kuje Prison has been attacked”
The FCT police authorities are yet to confirm the attack, and calls to the spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Francis Enobore were unanswered
Since 2020, about 15 prisons including in neighbouring Kogi State have been attacked, with over 5,000 inmates escaping including, some very dangerous criminals
