The Borno State Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to ensure a crime-free Sallah celebration.

A Press Statement signed and issued by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Sani Shatambaya, said the Commissioner of Police in the Borno State Command, CP Abdu Umar, has made adequate security deployments of officers and men across the state, for effective security coverage, throughout the celebrations.

The arrangement will cover all the praying grounds, malls and recreational centres, where a large number of people are expected to gather.

To this end, high visibility patrols, stop and search, and intelligence/information gathering will be intensified within the period and beyond.

Furthermore, Safer Highway Patrol teams have been deployed to major highways, to ensure the security of travellers and commuters.

There will also be restrictions on vehicular movement between 7 am and 12:15 pm on Sallah day.

The restriction will include, the use of motor vehicles, tricycles and bicycles, except those on essential duties.

Muslims are advised to pray at Eid Prayer Grounds close to their homes and ensure they go early for security screening.

Parents who go to prayer grounds with their children/wards are advised to take proper care of them, to avert incidences of missing children.

In addition, youths who carry knives and other dangerous weapons to prayer grounds or recreational centres, are warned to desist or face the wrath of the law.

While wishing the public a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abdu Umar, enjoins members of the public to be law-abiding, security conscious at all times, and to report any strange or suspicious person(s), movements or object(s) to the nearest police officer/station.
