15 Political Parties and their Candidates have signed a Peace accord that will prompt peace in the Saturday July 16 Osun Governorship Election.
Head of Secretariat, National Peace Committee, Rev. Father Atta Barkindo who spoke to ait.live before the signing of the Peace Accord in Osogbo, Osun State capital, says the idea is to ensure that the political actors in the election preach and embrace peace, before, during and after Saturday’s polls in the state.
He said previous peace accord entered into by candidates since 2015 when the committee was inaugurated have in many ways helped in reducing threats of violence and attacks and it is hoped that Osun election will not be different.
Osun will be the 5th State after Ondo, Anambra, Edo and Ekiti States that the Committee has held a pre-election peace Accord in Nigeria since 2015.
