Akwa Ibom Security: Police rescue 28 abducted fishermen

The Nigeria Police, Akwa Ibom state command, has rescued 28 kidnapped fishermen abducted by sea pirates in the state

The state commissioner of police, Olatoye Durosinmi made this known to newsmen at the state police headquarters in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

According to the state police commissioner, Olatoye Durosinmi the fishermen were abducted around Akwakpa in Uruan local government area of the state by the pirates who always pose as fishermen.
Durosinmi stated that the successful rescue operation was achieved due to intelligence.

The state police boss assured that the command would do everything within its power to ensure adequate security in the state.

Some of the victims recounted their ordeal.

The police commissioner stated that the victims would be taken to the police clinic for medical examination and treatment before they are handed over to their families.
