Alleged “Fake Bishops” show up for Tinubu’s unveiling of Shettima as running mate

A major talking point on Wednesday at the unveiling of former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2023 was the arrival of some persons dressed in Christian priestly robes.

Even with the conspicuous absence of President Muhammadu Buhari and a good number of APC Governors, the event which held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja managed to draw a few big wigs of the party including the party presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

Despite the growing agitations against its plan for Muslim-Muslim ticket, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) damned whatever consequences on Wednesday after the party and its Presidential candidate, Tinubu put the seal on its position with the official presentation of a Northern Muslim as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate.

The bishops arrived rather late for the event and some of them had been caught on camera dressing up for the occasion in a nearby location to the event.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, had swiftly dissociated itself from the ‘Bishop’ attired men, describing them as desperados and suggesting that they were hired for a purpose.

All attempts to interview the ‘Bishops’ failed as they bluntly refused to grant interviews to explain their presence to curious journalists at the event.

It however did not take time for Shettima to notice the presence of the Bishops as they struggled to find seats for themselves at the event.

Even more curious was that none of the bishops was acknowledged by those at the podium.

CAN thinks the men that showed up for Tinubu and Shettima are hired and did not have enough time to learn how to wear the garment sewn for them.

The Christian body in a statement it released likened the entire appearance of the bishops as another Nollywood movies buster.
