The Cross River State Police Command has secured the release of a final year student of Arthur Jarvis University, who was kidnapped on July 19, from the campus in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the release in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Irene Ugbo, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, said the victim, Josephine Etim Okon, has been handed over to her parents.
The CP described the rescue as a laudable breakthrough, explaining that one suspect was arrested by the police during the operation.A

He assured that the command is taking the fight to the hideouts of kidnappers and criminals in the state.
The kidnapped victim is a final year student of Arthur Jarvis University, and the daughter of the paramount ruler of Bakassi, who doubles as Chairman of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council.
Arthur Jarvis University is a private university, located in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, some fifteen minutes drive from Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
