Communal Clash: Victims support fund distributes food Items to Cross River communities

Thousands of households rendered homeless without means of livelihood as a result of Communal clashes in Central and Northern Part of Cross River State can now heave a sign of relief as Victims Support Fund VSF, provided food and non-food items intervention to cater for their needs and medications.

The Internally Displaced Persons which have been on the increase in Ogoja, Boki, Ikom, Etung and Bakassi local Government areas will also benefit from the one hundred and fifty million Naira worth of items provided.

Speaking during the presentation to the Cross River State Government and accredited Civil Society Organisations CSO, Chairperson of Victims Support Fund, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji warned against selling and diversion as the items will be tracked to the household of beneficiaries in the state.

In her remarks, the representatives of Cross River State Government,Janet Ekpeyong assured that the items will be given to the targets beneficiaries in the affected areas.

State Government says besides the communities displaced as a result of communal clashes,over fifty thousand Internally Displaced Persons are Living in Cross River State without homes and means of livelihood.
