Two kidnap suspects shot dead while fleeing crime scene

Two suspected members of a six-man kidnap gang that have been terrorizing motorists and road users along the Benin – Auchi Road in Edo State have been shot dead while attempting to flee from a crime scene.

The operation which was carried out by the Egba Division of the Police Command, occurred in the early hours of Thursday, inside a thick forest, located in communities along the Benin – Auchi Road.

In recent times, the ever-busy Benin – Auchi Expressway has become a source of concern over kidnapping and robbery incidents.

This prompted surveillance of the area, as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, the Police operations paid off with the arrest of two suspects, after the suspects’ movements became suspicious in the area, and the suspects confessed to being members of a six-member gang, operating along the Benin – Auchi Road, with weapons hidden in the forest, at Ogueka community

The Police Public Relations Officer, Chid Nwabuzor, also led journalists to another hideout of the criminals at Obadan, where the two suspected Kidnappers were gunned down while attempting to escape the scene of the crime.

With the latest development, the police have assured continuous commitment to protecting the life and property of law-abiding citizens of the state.
