The Delta state police command says, it has neutralized a three man armed robbery gang suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra recovering one AK45 riffle and six rounds of ammunition at Ogbada quarters along Illah-Akwụkwọ-Igbo road in Oshimili North Council Area of the state.

Commissioner of Police Delta Police Command Mohammed Ari in a Press briefing with journalists in his office in Asaba, said Police Patrol team attached to the Illah Division while on stop and search duty encountered and engaged the three man armed robbers in a fierce gun duel leading to the death of one of the suspects while other members escaped with gunshot injuries

CP Ari said since the attack on his men that were on a rescue mission along Okpanam a week ago where three policemen were killed, the command has been working round the clock doing stop and search, raiding various black spots and combing the hideouts of criminals including the enclaves of the suspected members of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.

This development paid off with the killing of the three man gang.

CP Ari explained that from all indication, the recovery of one of the two AK47 carted away during the attack on his men from the hoodlums, shows that the neutralised gang were connected with the atrocities committed in Okpanam where three policemen were murdered and several Vigilante members wounded.

The Commissioner said efforts are being made by his men to capture other gunmen that escaped with bullet wounds by combing the bushes within the vicinity.
