More than two weeks after a major landslide occurred at a local community in the southern district of Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria, the State Governor, Dave Umahi has visited the troubled area.
The Governor blamed the late visit on poor communication by officials including the Local Council authorities and senior aides in his government.
The hilly Ogwuma Edda in Umunna community of Afikpo South Local Government Area, has had its rocks and earth surfaces tumbling down twice in just one month, with the latest having more devastating impact.
Locals say, though no casualty was recorded in both occurrences, over ten houses have been totally destroyed, leaving several residents homeless.

Governor Umahi while taking stock of the situation, noted that the disaster was avoidable.
The Governor has announced an evacuation plan for residents in the affected area, with resettlement as part of the plan.
The scene of the landslide is a few poles away from the ongoing Iyere flyover bridge construction site, which the Governor also promised to open for use within the month.
