The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Coalition of Indigenous Youths from over 40 ethnic groups in Plateau State have raised an alarm over plans by Governor Simon Lalong to engage JAIZ Bank, an Islamic bank for the reconstruction of the burnt Jos Main market at the cost of N10 billion.
Speaking to journalists at different briefings in Jos, the groups alleged that the arrangement is a deliberate Plan by Governor Lalong and Jaiz Bank to mortgage the Future of the people of Plateau State
The Christian Association of Nigeria says it considers the arrangement as an economic enslavement,
A Protest by a Coalition of Plateau Indigenous Youths from over 40 ethnic groups also held in Jos the state capital, demanding the suspension of the project and proper explanation of the terms of the agreement.
Hours after the protest and growing concern, the Plateau state government in a twist of event responded and said it would engage on wider consultation.
