A Nongovernmental Organization, Nonstate Actor Consultative Forum, NOSACOF, has called on the National Assembly to focus on finding solutions for making citizens-oriented legislation that would help in securing the country rather than making moves to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.

The forum at a press briefing in Kano also accused the lawmakers of failing to carry out their oversight functions in the various security arms of the government despite the billion of dollars budgeted for security.

Lead convener of the Forum Abdulrazak Alkali said the move to impeach the president is being orchestrated by mostly disloyal members of the ruling APC who lost out at the recent presidential primary elections and some members of the opposition parties who are only after their interests.

He said they are not trying to protect President Buhari, but rather cautioning the lawmakers on the dangers associated with such a move, as it will bring more harm than good to the country.

Alkali said lawmakers in both the senate and house of representatives have failed to look at their failures and incompetence which contributed to the worsening economic and security situations in the country.

The forum also blamed the current security challenges bedeviling the country on the accumulation of years of incompetence, selfishness, greed, injustice and corruption perpetuated by the political leaders.
