The Supreme Court has upheld the election of the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, and held that the appeal filed by Garuba Lawal lacks merit.
The Katsina State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, in a split decision of two to one, validated the election of Governor Masari of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Justice Dele Omotosho, in his judgment, held that the petitioner failed to prove the allegation of substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act in the conduct of the election.
Also, the appeal filed by Nsima Ekere of the APC in the Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal was dismissed by the court for lacking in merit.
The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on Wednesday, affirmed the election of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
