The crisis rocking the Plateau State chapter of the Labour Party has taken a different dimension following the conduct of a fresh primary election that saw the emergence of Dr. Patrick Dakum, as the new Governorship candidate.

Recall, that a Governorship primary election of the party was earlier conducted on the June 9, 2022 at Retnan Hotel and Event Centre in Bukuru, Jos South LGA where Ambassador Yohanna Margif emerged the candidate of the party and certificate of return presented to him by the National Chairman, Julius Abure, to affirm his candidature as the standard bearer of the party for the 2023 election.

But in a twist of event, former Commissioner and Chief Executive of the Human Virology Centre Abuja, Dr. Dakum was reported to have been nominated to replaced Ambassador Margif as the Governorship candidate through affirmation which took Place on Friday at Kent Palace Hotel in Jos, the state capital.

AIT.live gathered that the nomination of Dr. Patrick Dakum who had earlier contested the Governorship primary election in the All Progressives Congress, APC but was defeated, followed some petitions submitted to the Labour Party against Margif.

In a swift reaction, Margif, in a statement issued in Jos on Saturday said he has not withdrawn from the Governorship race and described the fresh excercise as illegal, saying it is null and void, and cannot hold water.

Margif, who disclosed that the Governorship ticket of the Labour Party in Plateau State is under his custody and is not for sale and also alleged that his life has been under threat to withdraw from the contest ahead of the 2023 election.

Efforts to speak to the leadership of the party in Plateau State was unsuccessful as none of them responded to calls.
