8 terrorists killed in hometown of House of Reps Deputy Speaker

Eight suspected terrorists have been killed in Sabon Gari in the early hours of Sunday in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria.

The terrorists were killed during a joint operation carried out by soldiers of the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven and gallant members of the vigilante in the Sabon Gari community of Wase Local Government Area.

Sabon Gari is located about four kilometres from Wase, the local government headquarters and it is said to be among communities issued with a quit notice by bandits recently.

A community, leader Baba Hassan, who is an eye witness told AIT.live that the terrorists launched the attack in the early hours of Sunday few hours after they had invaded the community on Saturday night, but unknown to them that their movement was being monitored.

Spokesperson for the Military Special Task Force, Major Ishaku Takwa, who confirmed the incident on Sunday in Jos said the operation was successful following local intelligence report by members of the community.

The spokesperson also disclosed that many of the terrorists escaped with injuries, leaving the bodies of their members who were killed behind.

Wase Local Government which is the hometown of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase has come under series of attacks recently with many famers fleeing their homes after terrorists issued them quit notice.
