National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kebbi State Command says it will embark on sensitization campaign on the consequences of drugs abuse in the State.

The newly posted Commandant of NDLEA to Kebbi State Command, Usman Sule stated this when he paid a courtesy call to the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar in Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.

The Commandant said the Command’s intention to engage stakeholders in the sensitization was in consideration of the fact that over the years the NDLEA had recorded less positive results as a result of lack of awareness.

Sule appealed to the State government to support the Command with operational vehicles and logistics support to carry out its intended awareness against the menace in the state.

He said the sensitization would cover three Senatorial districts in the state with scheduled visits to meet traditional rulers, political and religious leaders as well as women on the consequences of drug activities.

Responding, the Secretary to the kebbi State Government, Babale Umar , assured the Command of the State government continuous support to enable it carry out its activities effectively.

Babale Umar pledged to inform the State Governor of the NDLEA request for operational vehicles and logistics which he expressed optimism that the Governor will respond to the request positively.

Yauri, emphasized that the parents have vital role to play in controlling the drug abuse in the country.
