Nigeria’s Governors Forum, NGF, has pledged to aggressively fund the primary healthcare services in the country through increased budgetary provision and recruitment of requisite health care workforce.
Chairman of the Nigeria’s Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi said this at the official launch of the national primary healthcare leadership challenge for improved health care system in Nigeria at the state house Abuja.
The primary healthcare challenge presents an opportunity to build a resilient health care system, motivate and recognise ownership and leadership health care institutions in the country.
The innovative project is aimed at improving and revitalising the primary healthcare system in Nigeria by promoting healthy competition among the 36 states and the federal capital Territory.

The leadership challenge is also an opportunity to share experiences among States and challenge each other for quality healthcare services.
Under this challenge, 13 awards are up for grab among the 36 states and the fct with Monetory grants for best performing state and most improved state within the six geopolitical zones.
