Operatives of the Marine Department of the Bayelsa State Police Command have foiled an attack on a passenger boat plying the Nembe-Brass waterways, rescuing four passengers in the process.
According to the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim, on 17th August 2022 officers of the Marine Department of the Bayelsa State Police Command, while on patrol along the Nembe- Brass waterways came under attack from sea pirates who were robbing passengers and attempting to kidnap some of them into a speed boat.

The operatives repelled the attack, subdued the pirates by superior firepower and rescued the passengers.
Buswat said the pirates however ran into a nearby creek escaping with bullet wounds.
He said the sea- robbers abandoned their speedboat, leaving behind a military camouflage, bullet proof jacket and cutlass.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of police Benjamin Okolo has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out discreet investigation to unravel the identity of the sea pirates.
