The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, HYPREP, has called for total support from stakeholders from Ogoni ethnic nationality in the actualization of the Ogoni clean-up exercise where remediation work is ongoing.
The HYPREP coordinator, Marvin Dekil stated this during a stakeholder’s forum in Port Harcourt. The stakeholders from Ogoni in Rivers state were gathered to x-ray the extent of the Ogoni clean-up exercise.
The HYPREP Coordinator, Marvin Dekil in his welcome address used the medium to brief stakeholders on the achievements recorded so far and called for total support in the actualization of the Ogoni clean-up project.
Though they acknowledged the fact that the remediation project in some sites is slow, due to some challenges, the stakeholders, however, urged the people of the region to be patient with the implementation of the project
According to them, the Ogoni clean-up exercise is a landmark and one of the biggest projects in the whole of African countries and is national pride, therefore, all hands must be on deck to make it work.
