Three Persons including the son of a a professor in the University of Calabar have been arrested for stealing two Hilux engines belonging to the institution.The Chief Security Officer of the University, retired captain Augustine Bisong , said the professor’s son,known as Jerry and two others, David and Paul, were apprehended after they were traced to the buyers.
Bisong said the hilux engine was bought to replace the bad ones in the vehicle of some principal officers of the University before it was stolen from the Mechanic workshop at the Staff Quarters.
He said the buyer and other accomplices who took the engine out from the University have been identified and will soon be arrested by the police.
The value of the engine stolen, according to the University Chief Security Officer is valued at two million naira, even as the three suspects arrested have confessed to the crime, saying they didn’t know it was a good engine before they sold it for thrifty thousand naira each.
