The Committee for the Prosecution of Banditry-related Offences in Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria is asking bandits kingpin, Bello Turji, to make his embraces of the peace deal public by surrendering his firearms.
Committee Chairman, Abdullahi Shinkafi, made the call while speaking with journalists in Gusau, the state capital.

He expressed concern that although Turji has embraced the State Government’s peace deal, he has not laid down his firearms, to make people believe that he took a positive decision and Nigerians to trust him.
He admitted that there has been relative peace being enjoyed in Shinkafi Zurmi and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas, where the notorious bandit leader operated, as a result of his positive action.
Shinkafi also faulted the security agencies for failing to apply their intelligence, to avert the killing of innocent citizens, by suspected terrorists in Gusau metropolis.
He said the gruesome murder of the lawyer, Benedict Azza, would have been averted, if the security agencies proactively deployed their intelligence.
The committee called on President Buhari to deploy more military personnel to Zamfara State, especially in Gumi, Bukkuyum and Bakura Local Government Areas, to flush out the terrorists, and restore peace.
