Police in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory have arrested several gunrunners, drug peddlers and raided several criminal hideouts during an execution of the New security strategy adopted by the Command.
This is contained in a statement signed by Police Public Relations officer Josephine Adah and made available to the media.
The statement said the latest publication in some sections of the media on the invasion of the outskirts of the Territory particularly the Karshi Residence of a defence Journalist by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) was fake.
The statement said the news is baseless on all fronts as the said journalist refuted all highlighted parts maliciously amplified to suggest a terrorist invasion adding that a Preliminary investigation also shows that nothing of such happened in the mentioned area and the FCT as a whole.
The statement, therefore, called on Residents to go about their lawful duties without the fear of harassment and molestation from any quarters.
The Commissioner of Police Babaji Sunday While reassuring residents of the command’s unflinching commitment to bringing crime and criminality to the barest minimum enjoined Members of the public to always verify news before circulation.
