There are strong indications that the academic staff union of universities, ASUU will be holding a decision-time National Executive Council meeting today.

Today marks the end of a four-week strike-roll over, which started on August one.

Sources who spoke to AIT’s Abulu Osemuaghu and claim anonymity say the meeting is expected to take a decision on the outcome of state congresses held to deliberate on the latest offers by the federal government.

The sources say, the meeting is expected to suspend for a few months or declare a full blown indefinite strike.

While fingers are kept crossed, the ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke is expected also to clarify the backlash he is receiving over his description of some State-owned universities as “quacks”.

ASUU is also expected to react to government’s stance on “no work, no pay”

ASUU started strike on February 14, 2022 to push for the renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement, revitalisation funds and adoption of the university Transperancy and Accountability Solution, UTAS, in place of the integrated payroll and personnel information system, IPPIS.
