Police rescue abducted PDP House of Assembly candidate, others in Katsina

Police in Katsina have rescued the Kankia House of Assembly candidate of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2023 general elections, Ibrahim Tafashiya who was earlier abducted by terrorists operating in Kankia Local Government Area on Saturday night, September 3.

Spokesman of the police Superintendent Gambo Isah who confirmed both the abduction and rescue said, immediately the command got the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Kankia Superintendent Ilyasu Ibrahim led his men, blocked the terrorists and engaged them in a gun duel leading to the rescue of the victims.

Similarly, the police image maker said terrorists also came to the residence of the Registrar of the Isa Kaita College of Education, Salisu Gide within the metropolis and abducted him and his wife.

He said the police upon receipt of the distress call engaged them and rescued the registrar but, the terrorists succeeded in going with his wife.

Isah added that an operation is currently ongoing with a view to rescuing her and others in captivity as the terrorists, were sighted somewhere in Batsari Local Government Area axis.

Meanwhile, a similar incident occurred this early Sunday morning at about 5:17 am at Sabuwar Kwata in Jibiya Local Government Area where the terrorists, abducted 3 persons comprising 2 Children and an adult.
