A forensic report has revealed that at least N11.9bn of public funds was carted away from the treasury of Kwara State between 2011 and 2019 without any lawful tie to projects or programmes.

The financial experts who recently carried out the audit of the state government treasury disclosed this in Ilorin the state capital during the submission of the report to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Report according to Anthony Iniomoh who spoke on behalf of the financial Experts is in two volumes covering Internally Generated Revenue; Capital Receipts; Internal and External Loans; Recurrent amongst others.

He maintained that the development was a preconceived attempt to defraud the state to the tune of about N11.9bn by the immediate past administration of Abdulfatai Ahmed who was the governor of the state for eight years.

In its submission, the audit report suggested possible prosecution of individuals and firms indicted in the two-volume report, while other issues were referred to administrative panel of inquiry for further investigations of some individuals.

Governor AbdulRazaq, on his part, said the outcome of the report remain quite disturbing but not surprising, while on the other hand, the media aid to the former governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Wahab Oba has debunked the allegation saying it is politically motivated.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Mamma Jubril and other top government functionaries.
