Cross River Electricity: Business owners lament over ten days of blackout

Small Scale Business owners in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital have continued to lament over lack of electricity supply ,following the fore incident at the 132/33 KV Substation in Adiabo, Calabar.

Barbers, Tailors and frozen food sellers who described the situation as pathetic, told Our correspondent, that they resorted to buying diesel and petrol with heavy financial burden that has brought untold hardship on their daily businesses.

Residents of Marian Road, Atekong and Bogobiri area of Calabar who are predominantly small scale business owners said their faith of paying their children’s school fees is hanging as their means of daily survival is affected as a result of the black out.

The Director General of Cross River State Electricity Agency, Eric Akpo , however assured citizens of fixing the problem. He promises that government is on the case with the distribution company to resolve the issues.

Calabar and its environment had suffered black out for weeks in recent times, due to heavy rainfall that fell the high tension powerline at Itu Bridge area, with the recent disruption that resulted from a fire incident at Adiabo.
