Medical and Dental consultants in Nigeria have expressed worries over the challenges facing the health sector.
While speaking with journalists after its National executive meeting held in Benin city, Edo State, South South Nigeria, the consultants say the failure of government to address poor remuneration and other contentious issues have resulted in massive brain drain of health workers in the country.

The Medical and dental consultants after a brainstorming session at its national executive meeting in Benin city unanimously resolved that concerted effort must be made by governments at all levels to prioritise the allocation of resources to the health sector while also seeking to correct retirement age of hospital consultants to seventy years.

The medical and dental consultants while looking at improving medical brain gain, emphasized the need for government to make necessary policies to stop the mass exodus of the Nigerian doctors to other countries including a push for stakeholders to explore and tap into medical entrepreneurship.
