Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described Sunday’s attack on the convoy of the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah by unknown gunmen as “the last ditched efforts of a sinking boat”.

The Anambra State Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime condenmed the attack which has so far claimed the lives of three policemen and another three aides on the convoy of the Federal lawmaker.

Governor Soludo while commiserating with Senator Ubah and the families of those affected, says the latest incident has strengthened his resolve to bring criminality in the State to its barest minimum.

Late Sunday, the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah came under heavy attack after being ambushed by suspected gunmen at the ever busy Nkwo market, Enugwu-Ukwu, along the Awka – Onitsha old road, Anambra State.

Though Senator Ifeanyi Ubah reportedly escaped unhurt in a bullet proof SUV, several aides including, police personnel attached to him were not that lucky.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Echeng Echeng has visited the scene, ordering comprehensive investigations into the attack.
