University Dons have decried the ongoing industrial dispute between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the Federal Government, that has led to the total closure of all public universities across the country.

They called on both parties to consider the future of the country, by finding a permanent solution to the problem.

Over the months, the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU and the Nigerian government have not been able to settle their differences over the ongoing industrial action that led to the total shutdown of Nigerian universities, a situation according to the former Vice-chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Professor Hamisu Mohammed, is unhealthy for the education system.

He called on the parties to resolve the matter.

Also speaking, the immediate past Executive Secretary Of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Professor Sulaiman Bogoro, said for any country to be on the path of growth and development, the education sector must be accorded all the desired attention.

As the Nigerian universities remain under lock and key, the students, as parents, are anxiously hoping to see the end of the over seven months strike in no distant time, to enable the students and their lecturers return to the classroom for the continuation of their studies.
