Bauchi State gets Anti Corruption law

In a bid to succeed in the fight against all forms of corruption and other financial crimes in the state, Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed has signed into law the Bauchi state Public Complaints And Anti Corruption Commission Bill with a clear mandate to fight corruption and entrench transparency and accountability in government activities.

Governor Bala Mohammed said with the establishment of the commission at the sub national level no corruption cases would be overlooked across the state under his administration.

Presenting the bill to governor Bala Mohammed, the speaker Bauchi state house of assembly Abubakar Sulaiman represented by his deputy, Danlami Kawule said the Bill has gone through all the legislative processes before it was passed by state assembly members.

Assenting to the the Bill, Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed, said with the establishment of the State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission and other agencies at sub national level will help the state in addressing corrupt practices, mismanagement of government resources as well as insecurity thereby providing jobs opportunities to the teaming unemployed citizens across the state

Though there are some existing anti corruption agencies at the Federal level, Governor Bala Mohammed said the state commission will help in the speedy dispensation of justice as many corrupt cases are lying down at the national Anti Corruption agencies offices in the country.

He said the agency will not be used against any body, but rather as a watch dog of corrupt elements in the society assuring that no any macro and micro cases would remain untouchable.

The Bauchi state public complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, Governor Bala Mohammed noted, will operate as an independent entity devoid of any political interference so as to falicitate accountability and transparency in all sectors of the economy.
