Tackling Insecurity: Zamfara shuts down 3 Local Govt. Areas over killings and abductions

The Zamfara State Government has announced the total shutdown of three local government areas of the state, to tackle renewed attacks, killings and abductions of innocent people, by suspected terrorists.

The three local government areas are Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara said, also affected by the restriction of movement, are some towns and villages such as Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko, and Mada.

The statement said the state government closed down some roads which include; Colony to Lambar – Boko Road, Bakura to Lambar – Damri Road, Mayanchi – Daki Takwas to Gummi Road, Daki Takwas to Zuru Road, Kucheri – Bawaganga Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road and Gusau to Magami Road.

It said, the state government has suspended all political activities like meetings and gatherings in individual residences till further notice, and it is with immediate effect.

The statement noted that the state government is saddened and worried over the resurgence of terrorists’ activities which resulted in the killing of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka, Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The Zamfara State Government said the stringent measures were taken based on recommendations of the state’s Security Council, to curtail the renewed activities of the terrorists across the state.
