The Nigerian government says the 20.2 million out of school children data released by UNESCO, fell short of the expected figure.
The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Hamid Bobboyi told newsmen on the sidelines of a National conference on out of school children in Abuja on Monday, that UNESCO has added figures yet to be released by government, outside the ages 6 to 11 and 12 to 14 released by government.

Other Speakers including the UNICEF Country Representative, Christian Munduate and Chief Education Specialist, Saadhna Panday called for more intervention by way of funding and strategic involvement of traditional and religious leaders in efforts to reduce out-of school children syndrome.
