Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, South-East Nigeria says the Tourism and Hospitality sector has an essential part to play in the economic development of the State.
The Governor stated this during the inauguration of Imo State Tourism Board at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Owerri, the State capital.
He insists that tourism remains the driving force in every economy, explaining that research has indicated that the sector will boost the State’s economic fortunes.
Governor Ihedioha called on members of the Board to explore the sector and give considerable attention to the abundant human resources and tourism potentials in the State.
The Chairman of the Board, Charles Anudo, on behalf of the members, expressed commitment to deliver on the mandate, and gave the assurance that tourism will become a major revenue earner for the State.

He noted that his administration is committed to supporting willing investors particularly those who intend to invest in the tourism sector, by providing land and the enabling environment.
